Around The Bend Beer Company

From Chicago, Illinois.
We’re not renegades. We’re not rebelling against anything. We think that the revolution is over; the war has been won. “Big Beer” is dead – they just don’t know it yet. And by dead, we mean irrelevant for millions of beer loving Americans.

Around The Bend Beer Company Brews:

Villainous IPA
It’s the most diabolical of plans. Instead of a single yeast strain, Villainous employs four; two British and two West Coast, to make one Super-IPA strain. This imparts subtle flavors like apple, clover honey and pear. A blend of the most coveted hops adds floral and fruity flavors in perfect compliment. A nefarious pleasure to be sure. Pairs well with: Spicy Curries, Mild Bleu Cheeses, Caramel Apple Tart.

Mr. Marmalade IPA
Seasonal - Seville oranges are the foundation of the classic British marmalade. They lend an astringent bitterness that gives the jam its distinctive flavor. So too with this Imperial IPA, the blending of Seville oranges with orange blossom honey and loads of American hops delivers a compelling balance of sweet orange flavor and intense, long-lasting bitterness. Pairs well with: Country Ham, BBQ Ribs, Pungent Cheeses Such as Stilton or Sharp Cheddar.
ABV: 8.8% IBU: 88
Silk Road APA
What’s galangal? It’s a root. A rhizome to get technical about it. It’s a lot like ginger, but a bit more flowery and intense. It makes this classic APA like nothing you’ve had before. Packed with five American hop varietals, it’s the perfect balance of flowery-spicy-citrusy, with orange and tropical-fruit flavors playing off a sturdy malt backbone. Pairs well with: Thai Cuisine, Grilled Chicken, Spice Cake with Caramelized Pears.
ABV: 5.9% IBU: 58
Ghost of ‘Lectricity Kolsch
Refreshing, crisp finish, totally sessionable. Everything you’d expect from a traditional Kölsch-style beer. Only thing is, we use a first-wort-hopping process, which smoothes out the bitterness profile while amping up the overall hop presence, leaving you with a noticeable, but not too bitter finish. Pairs well with: Salads, Salmon, Many types of würst.
ABV: 4.9% IBU: 24
Puffing Billy American Brown Ale
We love Browns. And you should too! Roasty malts and chocolaty flavors – what’s not to love? Ours is finished with cacao nibs to add another nuanced layer of bitterness and chocolate aroma to the already complex interplay of this well-balanced ale. Pairs well with: Roast Pork, Aged Gouda, Walnut-Maple Torte.
ABV: 6.9% IBU: 35
Vera Pistaccio Cream Ale
We all know how wonderful pistachios are. Pistacia vera (genus/species) have been used in culinary applications for thousands of years. For a much shorter period, innovative brewers have employed this tantalizing drupe (that’s right, technically not a nut) to add a luscious character to many styles of beer. Our delicate cream ale really lets the pistachio flavor shine through as the star. The use of Caravienne malt adds a touch more body than some other cream ales along with a pale golden hue. At just over five percent, this is a session beer you’ll want to get crackin’ with.
